Biopolitics of Non-Motherhood: Childfree Women on a Persian-Language Digital Platform for Mothers

In Iran, motherhood continues to be considered an important and essential part of women’s social life. However, nonmotherhood is gaining momentum as Iranian women increasingly choose childfree. This study explores perceptions using the content a Persian-language discussion mini-blogging forum called Ninisite. Ninisite one largest interactive digital spaces dedicated topics such family, motherhood, fertility, infertility, pregnancy, childbirth, childcare. uses combination cyber-ethnography critical discourse analysis investigate users’ attitudes on non-motherhood childfreeness The research shows participatory solidarizing climate Ninisite’s blogosphere provide informative, spiritual, affective support, not only mothers but also non-mothers in context where stigmatized well socially politically scrutinized.
